Description
8" (20 cm.) All wooden doll with solid domed head, feathered black painted hair, painted complexion and facial features, large black eyes with upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, closed mouth with center line, two small blush spots, cloth upper arms, crudely-carved lower wooden arms and dowel-jointed legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, early 1800s. Value Points: well-preserved doll with unusual painting of hair and facial features, wearing original simply-made nun's habit with accessories, noted in the Museum logs as originating as a country charity doll.
