19" (48 cm.) All-cloth doll with slender face and body shape, press-shaped leather face is stitched to cloth head form, with painted complexion and facial features, cut eye sockets, tiny black enamel eyes, shaped nose, painted brows, firm lips with extended center line, cheek blush spots, one-piece slender cloth body and legs, hand-stitched kidskin arms with separated fingers, wearing early clothing comprising stitch-padded chemise and petticoat over white cambric day dress, ruffled white cap under ivory silk draped bonnet, brown leather slippers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, early 1800s. Value Points: intriguing early doll with unusual construction and presentation.
