Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with solid dome, slender face with angular features, sculpted light brown hair with deeply comb-marked hair forming into bangs and brushed behind the sculpted ears, painted facial features, blue downcast eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with very full lips in downcast pouting expression, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 102 30. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, the model "Walter" from their art character series; the model was actually based on an original sculpture created in 1898 by the Berlin artist, Lewin-Funcke, which he offered to the Kammer and Reinhardt firm for use as a doll's head. Value Points: among the rarest of the German art character models, this example is notable for superlative bisque, sculpting and painting, original body and body finish.
