10" (25 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead with different face on front and back, the face connected by a ruffled black bonnet which frames each alternate face, one face depicting an aged kindly-faced woman with sculpted and defined age wrinkles and gaunt cheeks, her brown hair enclosed in black bonnet; and the alternate face depicts a young girl with black sculpted hair, rosy plump cheeks, blue eyes; the head attached to a padded faux-body with wrapped costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1880. Value Points: fine sculpting, the doll was designed as a moralistic tale of life.
