Description
9" (23 cm.) Solid poured porcelain bust of young child with plumply defined face and elaborately painted and sculpted costume, grey painted eyes in well-defined sockets, lightly tinted brows, closed mouth with center accent line, double chin, Dresden ruffled cap edging and applied decorative bisque twig of flowers, leaves and feather, elaborately painted floral scene on cap with gold leaf edging and blue streamers, sculpted yoke with Dresden ruffled collar and wrapped shawl. The base has intertwined blue script letters attributed to the Dresden artist Richard Eckert, circa 1890, and the doll was exhibited in "True Survivors, Early Dolls Made on China" at the Whyel Museum of Doll Art in 2005.
