17" (43 cm.) Wax-over-paper mache shoulderhead, blue glass sleep eyes which open and close from wire lever in torso, painted lashes, open mouth, two square-cut teeth, blonde curly mohair wig, taufling style body with cloth midriff containing "mama" crier which operates from pull-string at side of torso, paper mache lower torso, cloth upper arms and legs, wooden lower arms and legs, swivel wrists and ankles. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1865. Value Points: the doll is wearing lovely blue serge gown with matching cape embroidered lace bonnet, and owns a large assortment of additional gowns, undergarments, dresses, bonnets and slippers.
