Description
23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full elongated cheeks, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin, applied pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10 (incised on head). Au Passage Delorme Nos 1a 15, Jouets Simonne Rue de Rivoli, 188 (paper label on body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, early portrait bebe, circa 1880, presented at the prestige Parisian doll boutique of Simonne. Value Points: very choice modeling and bisque, original body and body finish, the doll is wearing original ivory silk couturier dress from the original workshops of Ernestine Jumeau, antique bonnet and undergarments, and cream kidskin ankle shoes with incised mark of Alart, size 10.
