36" (91 cm.) All wooden doll with one-piece head and torso with narrowed waist and well carved buttocks, black glass enamel inset eyes, carved nose with accent dots, pert chin, dot painted upper and lower lashes and brows, carved ears, human hair wig, all-wooden peg-jointed body at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, straight fingers, well-shaped legs with hint of knee, calf, and pointy ankle bones, large flat feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: English, early 1700s. Value Points: of grand luxury size, the doll is wearing very fine original creme silk two-piece dress with unique technique of embroidery featuring a jacket with peplum, laced back, and single bone stomacher at front, three-quarter sleeves with double layers of embroidered lace, long knit stockings, layers of undergarments and a cotton hand embroidered day cap. The doll is shown in the book The Heart of the Tree by Rosalie Whyel and Jill Gorman, pages 28-29.
