Description
14" (36 cm.) h. bed. A simply constructed tall wooden poster bed is completely enclosed with original patterned silk, muslin covered posts, early embroidered valance and lace-edged bed covers. Seated upright in the bed, under covers, is a waist-up wax lady with tiny blue enamel eyes, her hair wrapped in turban, with original patterned costume, wax hands. Condition: aging of fabrics, wax hands worn. Comments: an old paper label attached to canopy is hand lettered "La patience dans La Maladie", French, late 1700s. Value Points: intriguing and very rare presentation whose original back story awaits discovery.

If early and esoteric is a thing this must be at the top of any collector's dream. It's as if it was real. Collector's will create vignettes - but what if a vignette is original and already created for you in the 18th century?
