A walnut framed shadowbox with decoratively painted glass cover to suggest a theatre scene depicts a festive scene with five dolls gathered around a decorated Christmas tree; each doll varies, yet each is wearing a bisque sculpted bonnet and has painted facial features and hair, original body with bisque limbs, silk costume. A key-wind music box activates music. Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1880, very rare presentation music box designed for wall mounting, with intricate detail of interior scene, five dolls.
