Description
22" (56 cm.) Wax over paper mache shoulderhead, blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, tinted brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, original firmly-stuffed muslin body, paper mache lower arms and legs, painted brown ankle boots with tiny heels and gold edging. Condition: head and limbs generally excellent with minor typical craquelure, shoulderplate is in fair condition with some restoration work. Marks: (holz-masse stamp). Comments: Germany, Dressel, circa 1875, the fashionable lady dolls were known as "staat-damen". Value Points: beautiful wig in original coiffure, original aqua silk dress with elaborate draping, pleats and lace trim.
