Description
3" (8 cm.) The pair of dolls, each with leather head having delicately painted hair with tendrils of curls around the face, and painted facial features are attached to bodies whose cork lower forms have narrow bristles hidden beneath and extending below the costumes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early 1880s, the dolls were presented as dancing or "bristle" dolls, designed to dance when the table they are placed upon is tapped. Value Points: preserved immaculately, the rare miniature dolls are wearing original 1810 period costumes and hats, and are presented in their original box with label of "R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts 101, Strand London".
