Description
26" (66 cm.) All-wooden doll with one-piece head and flat-back torso, bedpost-shaped head, elongated throat, black enamel inset eyes, "dot" lashes encircle the eyes, "dot" brows, sharp nose, closed mouth with thin line lips, cheeks blush spots, tacked-on brunette wig, cloth upper arms, wooden lower arms with spatula-shaped hands, wooden legs with jointing at hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: English, late 1700s. Value Points: the doll is featured in The Heart of the Tree by Rosalie Whyel and Jill Gorman, wearing "a baby gown of soft linen with tucks and lace and a sweet ruffled bonnet that transforms her countenance to soft baby cheeks", as described in the book, page 51.
