Description
9" (23 cm.) dolls. 22" x 12" box. Two wax over paper mache dolls with taufling style bodies are presented in the base of original box, each with blue glass sleep eyes, tinted facial features, open mouth, blonde curly hair, and wearing factory original costumes. Also arranged in the box are 25 paper mache sheep with an alphabet letter painted on them (missing n and u), plus one additional unlettered and one black sheep. Condition: fair/good, well played with set, original costumes, box well worn. Comments: Germany, circa 1860, the set was designed as a teaching tool for learning letters and reading. Value Points: rare to find play set in remarkably complete yet well-loved state.
