Description
19" (49 cm.) Bisque socket head with highly characterized features, painted dark blue eyes, thick dark upper eyeliner, one-stroke tapered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth modeled as though lips slightly parted with two upper beaded teeth, shaded lips, deeply impressed character lines below the eyes and at edge of mouth, brunette side-parted hair, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, few tiny wig pulls, original body and body finish. Marks: K*R 112 49. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, from the firm's art character series. Value Points: named "Charlie Boy" by his original child owner, the doll is wearing his family-made Scottish costume from that time. The original owner, Irene Beryl Yeates, known as "Girlie", later became a nurse in WWI, and the doll remained in the family care until acquired by Rosalie Whyel Museum and was awarded President's Choice ribbon in 2011 at UFDC.
