15" (38 cm.) seated - 22". Each of six dolls depicts musicians of the concert orchestra, each with pressed and painted stockinette faces, detail of painted eyes and facial expressions, white mohair wigs, muslin firmly-stuffed body, and each wearing original black formal suit. The ensemble includes four string musicians with instruments, seated piano player (no piano) and orchestra conductor. Condition: generally excellent; also included is female singer in velvet gown whose face is extensively worn (not shown). Marks: Original Ravca Fabrication Francaise (original paper labels along with ink script added "B. Ravca Concert"). Comments: early work by the French artist, Bernard Ravca, 1932, according to an included postcard of the dolls, the set is one of a kind, likely commissioned, and was a Gold Medal winner in 1932. Value Points: most appealing exhibition set with wonderful variations of facial expression and excellent state of preservation.
