French Mechanical Piglet and Pup by Roullet et Decamps

12" (30 cm.) piglet, 5" dog. A hide-covered paper-mache pink piglet is constructed with articulated neck and legs, brown glass eyes and curly tail. He trots along with animation on his short little legs, quickly turning his head side-to-side and emitting "oinks" in a charming manner. Along with the piglet is a paper mache flannel-covered pup with brown glass eyes, leather harness, two original back wheels, curly tail. Excellent, unplayed with condition. French, Roullet & Decamps, circa 1910 from their series of walking or leaping farm and exotic animals, the pair are presented in their original box with key. The set is shown in the book The Rose Unfolds by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 155.
