Description
19" (48 cm.) Poured wax head of man with deeply impressed wrinkles in amber complexion, brown glass inset eyes, dark eyeshadow, thick brows, mouth open for pipe use, stubble-tinted chin, bald pate with affixed cap, hair tendrils at sides of head from under cap, wooden body with articulation of arms allowing pipe to be posed, wax hands and feet, original costume including various opium utensils. Condition: generally excellent, some damage to wax at back of one leg. Comments: maker unknown, the doll is shown in the book The Rose Unfolds, page 59 with notation of "artist unknown, Iran, c. 1976". Value Points: most artistic detail of modeling of facial features, articulated body, original costume.
