Description
24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head, large blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, tinted eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with modeled space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig. Sonneberg composition and wooden fully jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 136 15. Comments: mystery maker, circa 1885, the doll was created in Sonneberg to compete with the popular French bebes of the era, and bears a remarkable resemblance to French bebes. Value Points: choice bisque and modeling, original body, antique costume.
