Carved wooden shoulderhead, upper torso of gentleman with very somber expression, high forehead, groove-sculpted hair in side-parted manner, carved lower beard and sideburns, strong nose, blue painted eyes in deeply defined sockets, high cheek bones, closed mouth, brows, firmly-stuffed cloth body, carved wooden hands with defined fingers, carved wooden lower legs with painted black boots, wearing black velvet jacket and tam, silk vest, tie, shirt, trousers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: mid-1880s, unknown artist, recorded as portrait of German opera composer Richard Wagner. Value Points: very fine sculpting of the unique doll, enhanced by finest artistic painting, expressive hands.
