Description
6" (18 cm.) - 7" golfers. 34" clubs. Each has a wooden golf club with hidden internal mechanism that operates by a lever near the handle of the club, with carved wooden golfer attached to the base; each golfer has carved facial features, golfing cap and classic costume, with richly painted details. The head is swivel-jointed and attaches to a metal shoulder form with attached metal arms that are clasping a miniature golf club. When the lever is pushed and released, the golfer swings his miniature golf club to and fro. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Manufactured by the A. Schoenhut Co. Philadelphia, Pa. Pat. USA March,14,1922. Comments: Schoenhut, the novelty mechanical golfer was made by the firm from 1922-1926. Value Points: rarely found Schoenhut novelty with ingenious mechanism, fine original painted finish, the trio include male, female and child golfers.
