Description
14" (36 cm.) Poured wax shoulderhead, painted brown eyes, accented nostrils, tiny closed mouth, brunette human hair wig enclosed in distinctive tightly wrapped coiffe with closure at the chin and forms a widow-peak at forehead, firmly stuffed cloth body, wax lower arms. Condition: left lower arm missing, fingers missing on right hand, reinforced shoulderplate (all hidden under costume). Comments: maker unknown, early 1800s. Value Points: wearing most intriguing and wonderfully preserved costume of midnight brown lacquered natural linen, with extended length very wide sleeves (covering arms and hands), high waisted bodice with constructed front panel that falls to floor, attached black leather slippers with pointy tips
