Polychromed terra cotta head posed as though looking downward, bald pate with sculpted forelock and side locks, enamel eyes, painted facial features, open mouth, tiny painted teeth and tongue tip, tow-wrapped body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, very expressive fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: exceptional detail of facial modeling including incised wrinkles and frown lines, wearing original silk costume.
