Description
26" (66 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head proudly held erect and turned to the side, bald pate with deeply-grooved long grey side locks and cascading onto back neck, very full deeply-grooved curly beard and moustache, enamel inset eyes, sculpted ears, mouth modeled open with painted teeth, high cheek bones, tow-wrapped body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and black shoes, very expressive fingers, unusual costume appears original. Condition: generally excellent, hands retouched. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: grand size, very fine detail of carved beard and hair.
