21" (53 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass spiral-threaded eyes in perfect almond shape, dark eyeliner, short curled lashes, arched feathered brows, mauve eyeshadow, accented nostrils, closed mouth with hint of enigmatic smile, pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, French kid poupee body with square cut collarette, gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, lovely antique costume including opera glasses. Condition: generally excellent, body very sturdy. Marks: J. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, the year in which he deposed this very distinctive model, said to be a portrait of Empress Eugenie. Value Points: especially beautiful example of the sought-after portrait poupee with finest bisque, complexion and painting, sturdy original body.
