17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, very plump lower face and cheeks, deeply-impressed eye sockets with painted outlined blue eyes, decorative glaze on lower eyes, heavy eyelids, thick black upper eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, pierced ears, light brown mohair wig over cork pate, wooden poupee body with dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (original Huret stamp on kid collarette of torso). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1858. Value Points: stunningly beautiful example of poupee, with swivel head, splendid eyes, wearing very fine early white pique gown and jacket with elaborate soutache embroidery, wire-framed lace bonnet, blue silk cap with fringed edging, cream kidskin shoes with maker's mark C.C.
