Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with slightly upturned pale accented lips in hint of smile, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid-over-wooden body with shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, bisque lower arms, kid collarette, lovely antique ensemble, undergarments, leather boots. Condition: there is restoration on lower front neck (under costume), few fingers restored on left hand. Marks: 4 (head and shoulder) A La Poupee de Nuremberg 21 Rue de Choiseul Lavalle-Peronne... (paper label on torso). Comments: Lily, the signature doll from the prestigious doll shop of Madame Lavalle-Peronne as described in the journal La Poupee Modele, circa 1867, the doll became the classic size and model of French poupees throughout the 1867-1875 era. Value Points: historical importance of the doll, this example with original paper label, is enhanced by its facial beauty, original labeled body, fine antique costume and original wig, and with original trunk bearing the Lavalle-Peronne label on inside lid.
