Description
17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead with rounded face, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly-feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, nicely blushed cheeks, unpierced ears, mohair wig on cork pate, plump French poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips, shapely waist. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Brevete D.D. SGDG (green stamp on torso). Comments: Duval-Denis, who had acquired the Blampoix doll firm for two years only, 1861-1862, after which it was re-acquired to Blampoix. Value Points: few examples of the doll are known, this doll with especially beautiful face with most expressive features, finest bisque with delicately blushed cheeks, lovely antique costume and bonnet, undergarments, leather shoes. $
