14" (36 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with oval-shaped head and elongated slender throat, sculpted black hair arranged with horizontal curls around the sides of head and then drawn into elaborate "beehive" curls at the crown encircled by a braid, with stippling details around the forehead, painted bright blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, feathered brows, tiny closed mouth, kid slender body, wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue shoes, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1850. Value Points: rare hairstyle in very fine state of original preservation.
