Description
19" (50 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden base which contains musical and mechanical works is a bisque head doll with large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, slightly-parted lips, tiny porcelain teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French carton torso and legs, metal upper arms, bisque lower arms, lovely rose silk and lace costume and flowered bonnet. When wound, the doll turns her head side to side and alternately sniffs the floral bouquet she holds in her right arm and fans herself with the bone-handled fan she holds in her left hand. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism and music function well. Marks: 2 (impressed and Jumeau artist checkmarks on head) LB (key) (labeled music sheet beneath). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: elegant movements of the lovely doll with very choice bisque, perfect bisque hands.
