Description
15" (38 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, brown painted hair, intaglio blue side-glancing eyes, white eye dots, tiny nose with accent dots, "O"-shaped mouth with hole for whistle sound to emanate, cloth torso containing squeeze bellows for creating whistle sound, yellow felt legs which appear original, composition hands, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 5 Germany 8774 Heubach (square). Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1915. Value Points: wonderful expression, the doll was marketed in America as "Whistling Jim" and when torso is squeezed, a whistle sound appears to emanate from his pursed lips.
