12" (30 cm.) doll. 20" h. including stand and dome. Posed standing upon a wooden platform which contains musical and mechanical works is a bisque head lady doll with brilliant narrow blue glass eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with hint of smile on accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair flowing curls, carton torso and legs, metal wire upper arms, metal hands, wearing luxurious original silk costume and cap. When wound, she turns her head side to side and strums the violin that she is holding, while music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, attributed to Vichy, circa 1865. Value Points: most beautiful face with gentle expression enhances the elegant movements, especially fine quality of music, presented under glass dome.
