10" (25 cm.) Padded cotton crepe fabric over copper-wire armature, press-shaped painted facial features on slender oval face, solemn expression, small blue eyes with heavily-defined eyelids, aquiline nose, closed mouth with beautifully-shaped lips, very dark center-parted silk thread hair, hands expressively posed with separate fingers. Condition: excellent. Marks: Dorothy Wendell Heizer (cloth label under costume). Comments: depicted is Catherine of Aragon, first wife of King Henry VIII, by the NIADA artist, Dorothy Heizer, circa 1950. Value Points: exquisitely sculpted face is enhanced by elegant black velvet gown with brocade under-sleeves, elaborately-beaded edging, tasseled sash, rosary, bead-edged coiffe, jewelry, undergarments, black silk slippers.
