Description
31" (79 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with defined breasts and shoulderblades, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, sculpted brows with brushstroked details, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, plump kid bebe body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, curved elbows, bisque lower arms with separately sculpted fingers, beautifully costumed in cream cashmere wool with lace trim, pressed felt bonnet, undergarments, black leather shoes signed "Bru Jne Paris 12". Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1883, the early Bru Jne facial model with exceptional quality of sculpting and bisque, superb condition with very sturdy and fresh original body, perfect hands, signed Bru shoes; the luxury quality of this doll as well as its wonderfully-preserved condition and size indicate likely original purpose as an exhibition model.
