Description
11" (28 cm.) Bisque socket head with deeply-sculpted light brown bobbed hair with curly bangs, intaglio side-glancing blue eyes with white eye dots, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with tiny stuck-out tongue tip, outlined lips, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: N&T (incised script letters on head 1 (head). Comments: Nockler & Tittel, circa 1910, who advertised themselves in 1910 as "the only doll factory in Saxony"; although actually most of their 100 different models were generic dolls that were simply costumed by the firm; the one exception appears to be this model that actually bears the initials of the firm, as discussed in German Doll Encyclopedia by Cieslik pp 219/220. Value Points: rare character of which, few are known to exist with deeply-sculpted features and endearing shy expression.
