Padded cotton crepe over copper wire armature, press-shaped painted facial features on down-tilted head, small dark eyes with defined eyeliner, thick painted brows, dark brown silk thread hair under fitted organza veil, closed mouth, separately-modeled fingers posed to hold a book. Condition: excellent. Marks: Dorothy Wendell Heizer (cloth tag inside costume). Comments: depicted is Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII, by the NIADA artist, Dorothy Heizer, circa 1950. Value Points: with humble downcast expression, wearing exquisitely embroidered veil and burgundy velvet gown with center-skirt brocade panel, beaded accents and jewelry, undergarments, embroidered silk shoes.
