Description
20" (51 cm.) Firmly-stuffed black cotton sateen doll with center-seam face, and having un-jointed head, torso and legs with very plump shape, thick neck, painted facial features, pronounced eye whites with black pupils, white eye dots, black painted outlined eyes, accented nostrils, painted wide beaming smile with two rows of tiny white teeth, jointed shoulders, separately-sewn fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, early 1900s, unknown folk artist. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved doll with imaginative details of facial painting such as double teeth rows, original costume, undergarments, leather shoes, bandanna, Aunt Jemima Breakfast Club pin.
