Padded cotton crepe fabric over copper-wire armature, press-shaped facial features with painted details, small brown eyes with defined eyeliner, auburn silk thread hair under fitted simple cap, closed mouth with gentle smile, individually-sculpted fingers posed to hold object. Condition: excellent. Marks: Dorothy Wendell Heizer (cloth tag inside costume). Comments: depicted is Mary, Queen of Scots, by the NIADA artist, Dorothy Heizer, circa 1950. Value Points: the gentle-featured Queen is historically portrayed, wearing original black velvet gown with high tiered ruffled collar and cuffs, black sheer cape with beaded edging, carrying beaded rosary, emerald decorated gilt chains, undergarments, black satin slippers.
