Description
10 1/2" (27 cm.) Padded cotton crepe over copper wire armature, press-shaped painted facial features on proudly-set head, blue eyes with defined eyeliner, thick painted brows, black silk thread short curly hair, closed mouth with firmly set lips, posed with folded arms, separately-modeled fingers. Condition: excellent. Marks: Dorothy Wendell Heizer (cloth tag inside costume). Comments: portrayed is the 1st Duke of Wellington by American artist, Dorothy Heizer, circa 1950; the doll, costume, and folded arm pose were inspired by a portrait of the leader circa 1815. Value Points: rarely found model with exacting similarity to the painting, wearing original costume including medals, epaulets, boots, sword.
