Description
18" (46 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, rose blushed eye shadow, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, shaded and accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, carton torso containing clockwork mechanism, hinged hips, composition arms and lower legs, antique costume. When wound, the doll turns its head side to side and cries "mama", waves her arms and kicks feet in babyish manner. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1880. Value Points: beloved bebe with beautiful bisque, well-functioning movement, with original rare boutique label "Magasin des Enfants, Jouets et Jeux Paris".
