Description
24" (61 cm.) overall. 6 1/2"h. head. Bisque shoulderhead of lady with light brown sculpted hair having dainty little curls at the forehead and then loosely swept back into casually-arranged loop curls at the crown and back, painted facial features, blue upper glancing eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, firmly-stuffed elongated muslin body, kid arms with stitched and separated fingers, lovely antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4 P 9 (incised script lettering). Comments: C.F. Kling, circa 1865, from an early set of dolls with unique series markings, of which very few were ever made or known to exist. Value Points: extremely rare doll with rare brown hair decorated by a six-leaf centered Dresden rose at her crown, and with double rows of gilt decorated Dresden "ribbon candy" ruffles on the shoulderplate above the painted blue lower bodice.
