Description
16" (41 cm.) Solid domed wax-over-paper mache socket head, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, painted lashes, feathered brows, closed mouth with center accent line, blonde mohair wig, early composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, very light rubs on cheeks. Comments: attributed to Kestner, circa 1875, the model very closely resembles the early paper mache bebe by Schmitt et Fils that preceded their bisque bebe. Value Points: very sweet face and complexion framed by soft curls, original early body, and wearing antique aqua and ivory silk dress in the French manner.
