Description
16" (41 cm.) h. 10" w. The tall wooden secretaire with fitted interior having leather writing surface, upper pencil drawer, and two lower cabinets is finished with rich veneers of rosewood, walnut and mahogany, and enhanced with inlay nature scenes including various birds and a seated shepherd with flute and lambs; the scenes are on front, sides and top of the desk, and are further enhanced by inlays of urns and flowing ribbons. There are bronze mounts at the sides, forming knobs, and has key holes (key included). Excellent condition. The quality indicates original production as maitrise model, mid-1800s.
