Description
19" (48 cm.) White linen-like cloth face with three vertical seams, large stitched-on felt ears, black bead eyes centered by yellow flowers, pink pom-pom nose, orange looped-yarn hair, muslin body with stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, stitched-on black velvet shoes. Wearing original yellow and green satin clown costume with double ruffled collar. The costume has original cloth tag "Clara-belle Clown/c. Madame Alexander, New York". Excellent condition. Madame Alexander, 1951, from the firm's Posey Pets series inspired by the Howdy Doody TV show; the clown holds small cardboard box at his front torso.
