Description
8" (20 cm.) Carved wooden head with painted black pate and original hole at back crown for human hair queue (missing), tinted facial features, piquant smile, firmly stuffed muslin body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent, two finger tips chipped, light spotting of gown. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope Mission, the doll was described as "boy in silk" by the mission, circa 1915. Value Points: wearing original aqua silk gown under short tunic with frog closures, white shirt, magenta pants with teal blue trim which match his magenta embroidered cap, embroidered slippers.
