17" (43 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with oval face, strong elongated throat, black painted hair drawn smoothly around the face, looped behind her ears and forming into a two coiled chignons at the back of her head, black enamel eyes, painted lashes, closed mouth, original polished muslin slender body with stitch-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, mitten hands with defined thumbs. Condition: very good/excellent, original finish, tiny nose rub. Comments: Germany, attributed to Johann Friedrich Muller, circa 1850. Value Points: regal presence of the gentle faced lady, with rare sculpted coiffure, original body, and wearing original muslin gown with embroidered center panel and applique paillettes.
