9" (23 cm.) Wooden socket head with chubby face and expressive features, tinted eyes, brows and mouth, painted black hair in unique style with shaved curved part lines and stippled high-crown bangs, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Wooden Door of Hope, circa 1915. Value Points: rare coiffure, expressive features, and wearing original costume comprising floral patterned silk rose jacket over cotton tunic with frog closures at the neckline, patterned cotton pants, black slippers; there is a faint penciled maker's name in Chinese characters at the front waist band.
