22" (56 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with oval face, strong elongated throat, black enamel eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, pierced ears, closed mouth with primly-set lips, brunette human hair wig arranged with wide poufs of curls at each side of face, slender French kid body with shapely waist and defined bosom, gusset-jointing at hips, shapely legs, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: doll is excellent, costume is all original with some fabric frailty of gown. Comments: Andreas Voit, circa 1825, German immigrant to France, created these elegant ladies, considered the premiere French poupee models, with heads commissioned from his native Germany, and with bodies, wigs, and costumes created in his adopted French home. Value Points: the stately presence of the elegant lady is enhanced by her splendid coiffure, and fine original wedding ensemble including undergarments, silk slippers with ankle ties, embroidered tulle fichu, elaborate coiffe and floral bouquet of wax orange blossoms.
