11" (28 cm.) Carved wooden head with deeply-incised details of age, oval shaped face, tinted eyes, brows and mouth, shaved front crown, painted thinning hair waved into a black coiled chignon at the nape decorated with a gold hair comb, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope mission, circa 1925. Value Points: rare model of older woman with very distinctive coiffure, wearing original purple silk brocade tunic with frog closures, black silk skirt over grey silk trousers with striped silk banding, embroidered bound-feet grey slippers, black velvet hair band.
