18" (46 cm.) Thickly-pressed composition socket head, defined eye sockets with painted large downcast brown eyes, textured complexion, lightly-tinted brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with very full lips, blushed cheeks, brunette mohair wig in long braids, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Marion Kaulitz, from her series of art-reform character dolls, believed to have originated that movement when they were displayed at the Leipzig Fair in 1908; it was the artist's purpose to design dolls that looked like real children and could be played with as a true friend. Value Points: very rare doll with sublime expression on the well-modeled features, original body and body finish and wearing elaborate original folklore costume and coiffe.
